Dave's Diggity Dog Festival 2011 - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1ST, 2011 FROM 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

2nd Annual Dave's Diggity Dog Festival a Success!
Despite the chilly temperatures on Saturday there
were over a 100 doggies & their owners that came
out to support the second annual Dave’s Diggity
Dog Festival on the Garst Museum lawn! They kicked off the morning with an opening speech by Mayor Bowers and the singing of the National Anthem by Brooke Netzley of Greenville High School. The dogs and their owners headed off on a mile dog walk through Greenville’s City Park
and returned to strut their fancy stuff in front of
judges Julie Monnin, Dave Knapp, Clay Johnson,
and Shannon Vannatta for the juried competitions. "Best of Show" was awarded to Cerria Wolf
and her Aussie dog Keebler. Ribbons and awards were donated by Edgetown Veterinary Clinic, Taco Bell, McDonalds and Carefree Connection Bus Tours. Special guests Russell Rex and his Extreme Insanity Dogs entertained the crowd throughout the day with
exciting disc & flyball performances.

For the second year in a row the wiener dogs stole the show with the wiener dog races! Big raffle winnings of bicycles, golf bags, KitchenAid mixers, bus trips, cash prizes and more were handed out to the lucky winners during the festival!

The Darke County Animal Shelter was excited to announce that they adopted two puppies and added over 200 signatures to their petition "Ban Dog Auctions Act". This petition will help to ban auctions of dogs & puppy mills in the state of Ohio. If you would like to sign your name to the petition please call the Darke County Animal Shelter at 937-547-1645.

"SO WHO IS...
CAREFREE CONNECTION TOURS?"

After going off to college and living & traveling
around the country for the past 20 years, sisters
Shelly Flory & Angela Flory decided it was time to move
back home to their roots in Greenville.

They came up with
the idea of combining their event talents to bring something fun to the
folks of Greenville
and the surrounding communities.  The girls developed a day tour bus company for folks who would prefer not driving or dealing with the hassles of parking, long lines, & congested traffic, but would like to do fun and adventurous
things together as a group!

Shelly & Angie are excited at how receptive
the folks in their home town have been towards their bus
trips and have many more future trips planned!  This
year's Annual Doggie Festival is just one more fun trick they have up their sleeves for their beloved hometown of Greenville's pets, families and animal shelters!
